Southland K9 believes there is no “one size fits all” approach to dog training. We specialize in "Problem" dogs that most trainers would turn away and pride ourselves on the positive impacts we have made in hundreds of dogs lives over the years. We believe that educating owners is just as important as training dogs and each training package is custom made using a mix of marker training, free shaping, classical and operant conditioning to not only establish obedience but also create active free thinking dogs who are ready to engage with their environment. We believe in bringing out each dog's full potential so they can exist in harmony with their owners every day. We focus on obedience, but more importantly teaching dogs how to make their own good decisions and respect their owners as pack leaders and guides.
I'm Christina and I've been rescuing dogs since 1998 and professionally training dogs since 2015. During my career I've traveled all over the country working for other trainers, seeking out knowledge from some of the best in the industry, and getting as much hands on experience with all kinds of dogs as possible. I'm passionate about anything that has to do with animal behavior and I love teaching dogs how to learn and people how to communicate effectively with their furry companions. I have extensive experience in behavior modification, competitive obedience, controlled aggression, detection, tracking, building police/military service dogs and building service dogs for those in need. I have always been passionate about the unique bond that can be formed between animal and man and I've worked hard to develop my own unique training style and bring it to my clients. In 2019 I decided to settle back down in Tallahassee and start Southland K9 and I love the community of people and dogs that I've gotten a chance to work with since then.
Jamieson has been passionate about dogs his whole life and grew up being followed around by a pack of pitbulls. After retiring from the Army Jamieson fell into dog training while trying to get a service dog and quickly knew that he wanted to work with dogs full time. Since then he's dedicated himself to gaining as much knowledge and hands on experience as possible and has worked extensively with everything from basic pet obedience to extreme behavior modification. He enjoy's helping other's learn how to communicate effectively with their dogs and is passionate about helping other veterans who are in need of service dogs.
